Oh, and sorry for any odd typography--when I converted it over to the blog, all the quotes and apostrophes went kerblooey. I'll try to get those fixed soon.

Oh, if you've actually read both (HA!) you'll notice that there are parts of this essay which came from the ICFA paper I presented: "Only Words" (published earlier on this blog) which I had used as a bases for one of the threads of this paper.

Ugh, I just realized how terrible the formatting is! I need to do something about the paragraph breaks.
Thanks for reading it, and I'm glad you found something of value in it. =)
After this semester's over I plan on giving it another edit and then submitting it to a journal, so you may see it in another form hopefully.
(But then, how many times in different forms has Jameson's introduction to POSTMODERNISM been published?!) :)

Greetings.
I enjoyed that paper. I seriously need to read White Noise now.
On Ubik I have come to a number of conclusions that mirror yours. I'm currently writing a masters paper on Dick's novel (a french masters in english language literature). I would like to quote a passage of your paper in mine. Call it intertextuality in post-grad studies.
It would be better if I had your full name though and I can't seem to find it. Would you care to get in touch ? I left my e-mail while registering, I believe you have access to it.
Cheers.

This was a midterm "exam" for my cultural studies class. It's a response to an NPR book review found here:

So, this was a paper I delivered at last year's International Conference for the Fantastic in the Arts. It's actually about a page or two too long for my time slot, so I had actually abridged it down a little in the actual presentation.

Since it was written to be read aloud and listened to, it isn't exactly in best, formal English. Punctuation is used as much for vocal cues as for grammatical legibility, and contractions are a little more common than I generally use in a scholarly work.
